Growing up in Germany, I studied Economics at the University of Stuttgart Hohenheim. But while I was learning about business, law, finance, and statistics, I longed to work more creatively and began to write children’s book stories.
After some practice, I mailed my first manuscript to a handful of publishers and a few weeks later, I received my first publishing contract. Pattloch Verlag published two of my manuscripts: Knöpfchen geht aufs Töpfchen and Mäuschen zieht in ein neues Häuschen.
Soon afterwards my husband received a job offer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and we moved our two young boys and baby girl across the Atlantic. We fell in love with the Midwest and its people and decided to apply for citizenship. As my English language skills improved and my faith grew, I wrote my first Christmas story about a little girl who lived at the inn in Bethlehem. Nord Süd Verlag (North South Books) published my manuscript A Gift for the Christ Child in German, English, French, Italian, and Dutch.
Once my kids left for college, I went back to school myself and earned an MFA in Writing at Spalding University, Kentucky. It’s a fabulous program with a wonderful writing community!
